Super Sonic Timewarp
A powerful Rock Band from day one, the members of SST have been singing, performing, and playing with a chemistry that leads one to believe they have been together their entire musical careers. Steve Sainas and Ted Tosoff have been performing and recording in their respective critically acclaimed acts for over twenty years. In SST, they are joined with dynamic drummers"Steady" Johnny McCreath, or Kelly Stodola to create a supersonic trio that rips through some of the greatest classic rock tunes of our time.
Steve Sainas led his rocking blues band, Mud Dog for almost 20 years as they performed throughout BC and recorded three albums. Their second album, River of My Soul was nominated Best Blues Album at the 2008 Western Canadian Music Awards. In 2011, Sainas's Mud Dog Duo represented BC at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. While in Memphis the duo recorded a ten song album, Mud Dog~SUN at legendary Sun Studio. In 2015, Sainas was honoured with a Juno Award for MusiCounts Teacher of the Year. Sainas then followed up with four years of steady solo acoustic work that resulted in his debut solo release, Steve Sainas~"Simple As This" that featured Kelly Stodola on Drums. The album received great international reviews and airplay. https://canadianbeats.ca/2018/01/02/review-steve-sainas/
Ted Tosoff lays down a rock solid bass groove and harmony vocals in SST. Tosoff has co-fronted his band, The Blue Voodoo since 2002, and in that time has been nominated for a Maple Blues Award for Best New Act, and two Western Canadian Music Awards for Best Blues Album. In addition The Blue Voodoo have shared stages and played with, Bo Diddley, Sonny Landreth, Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, Honeymoon Suite, Prism, Leon Russell, Sean Costello, Chilliwack, Otis Taylor, Marcia Bell, David Gogo, and many other great musicians.
Veteran session drummer, "Steady" Johnny McCreath played in the Toronto circuit for many years. Some of the notables McCreath has played with are Stephen Ambrose Band (The Lincolns), Nathanial Peterson (Savoy Brown, Rick Derringer), Joe Mavety (Mary Anne Faithful, Stanley Clarke) and James Gray (Blue Rodeo). McCreath has worked with some amazing engineers like Pat Glover (BTO, Paul Rodgers, Headpins), Wayne Lorenz (Boys Brigade, Daniel Lanois), Rob Bailey (Alice Cooper, Coverdale - Page, Queensryche). When he is not performing with “The BlueVoodoo" (blues band), or with SST, he is filling that music gap by performing with guitarist Jimmy D Lane (son of the late great Jimmy Rogers), Blues Hall of Fame great Kal David (from John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers) or Lauri Bono (Etta James , Bette Midler). McCreath’s vast experience and rock solid drumming maintains the tight chemistry that makes this dynamic trio a must see act!
Kelly Stodola is one of the most in demand live and studio session drummers in BC. He has performed and recorded with numerous artists including joining The Blue Voodoo led by Ted Tosoff. Stodola played drums on the “Back to the Shack” album that was nominated Best Blues CD at the 2007 Western Canadian Music Awards. When available, Stodola joins SST to create an incredible chemistry between these three long -time band brothers.
At every show, this super sonic trio fills the room with fun high octane energy as they crank out their favourite classic tunes and rockin blues that is sure to keep the room dancing all night long.
